BMW i3 siap diluncurkan pada 2013, dan BMW i8 menyusul kemudian pada 2014.

BMW Group menampilkan mobil masa depan dalam wujud BMW i3 Concept dan BMW i8 Concept. Dalam penampilan perdana di depan publik, kedua prototipe ini hadir sebagai mobil bertenaga listrik dengan mengusung sub-brand BMW i. BMW i3 siap diluncurkan pada 2013, dan BMW i8 menyusul kemudian pada 2014.

“Kami baru saja membuat satu tonggak sejarah bagi BMW Group,” kata Chairman Board of Management BMW AG, Norbert Reithofer, di sela penampilan perdana kedua model tersebut di Frankfurt, baru-baru ini.

“Sebagai produsen mobil mewah, kami selama ini menyimpan angan-angan agar bisa mempersembahkan mobil listrik kepada konsumen.”

BMW i3 Concept hadir dengan penggerak listrik tanpa emisi dan sanggup mencapai jarak tempuh 150 kilometer. Mobil ini dirancang khusus untuk keperluan dalam kota. Dengan motor listrik 125 kW dan berpenggerak roda belakang, mobil ini menghadirkan dinamika berkendara khas BMW.

Revolusi desain
Reithofer mengatakan, mobil ini menandai pertama kali diluncurkannya satu kendaraan produksi yang sebagian besar bodi-nya berbahan karbon. "Ini adalah revolusi desain di dunia otomotif,” katanya.

Berkat penggunaan teknologi plastik yang diperkuat serat karbon (CFRP), mobil ini tampil dengan bobot lebih ringan dibanding mobil listrik konvensional. Selisih bobotnya yang mencapai 250 sampai 250 kilogram lebih ringan, memungkinkan mobil BMW i tampil lebih dinamis dan berjalan lebih jauh.

BMW i3 sanggup melesat dari posisi diam hingga mencapai kecepatan 100 kilometer per jam hanya dalam waktu delapan detik. Dan dengan sebuah high-speed charger, pengisian baterai hingga 80 persen dapat berlangsung hanya dalam satu jam.

Sementara itu, BMW i8 Concept merupakan mobil hybrid plug-in dengan output 260 kW dan sanggup menempuh jarak 35 kilometer dengan mode listrik. Mobil ini sanggup mencapai kecepatan 100 kilometer per jam dari posisi diam hanya dalam waktu kurang dari lima detik, dengan konsumsi bahan bakar kurang dari tiga liter untuk menempuh jarak 100 kilometer.

BMW i3 dan BMW i8 akan diproduksi di pabrik BMW di Leipzig, Jerman. BMW telah menyiapkan investasi awal sebesar 400 juta euro atau sekitar Rp4,9 triliun untuk mendirikan bangunan dan menyiapkan fasilitas baru pada 2013.

Dengan produksi kedua model tersebut, maka 800 lapangan kerja baru akan tercipta. Proses produksi mobil ini menghasilkan CO2 dalam posisi netral, dan akan menggunakan materi dan bahan-bahan yang terbarukan. Bahkan perusahaan ini tengah melakukan penelitian kemungkinan membangun sendiri turbin angin di samping pabrik.

Suzuki APV Pikap Ramaikan Pasar Indonesia

PT. Suzuki Indomobil Sales meluncurkan Mega Carry guna memperkuat penjualan di segmen komersial yang sejak 2005 cuma dipasok untuk pasar ekspor. Sebenarnya, kendaraan ini merupakan versi pikap dari multi purpose vehicle APV dengan daya angkut lebih besar sampai 1,5 ton dibanding Suzuki Carry yang cuma 1 ton.

Spesifikasi mesinnya pun sama, 1.493 cc, berdaya 92,4 PS pada 6.000 rpm, dan torsi 126 Nm pada 3.000 rpm. Konsumsi bahan bakarnya diklaim 1 liter untuk 12,6 km.

Davy Tulian, Direktur Penjualan Roda 4 PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales mengatakan, pertumbuhan pasar pikap kecil di Indonesia sangat potensial. Tahun lalu, total pasar tercatat 67.644 unit, melesat nyaris dua kali lipat atau 98,8 persen dari 2009 yang cuma 34.032 unit.

Dari pasar itu, Suzuki Carry lawas terjual hingga 31.336 unit atau menguasai 46,3 persen penjualan. "Target untuk Mega Carry kita tetapkan 6.000 unit tahun ini dan total (plus Carry lawas) jadi 42.000-an," urai Davy di sela-sela peluncuran Mega Carry di Mangga Dua Square, Jakarta Utara, hari ini.

Mega Carry ditawarkan hanya dalam satu varian dengan banderol Rp 84 juta on the road Jakarta. "Harga masih promosi dan akan dipertahankan setidaknya satu bulan ke depan," tambah Davy.

Suzuki Akan Luncurkan Multipurpose Vehicle

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) memastikan akan memproduksi kendaraan multipurpose vehicle (MPV) 7 penumpang akhir 2011 yang dikembangkan dari model konsep R3 dan dipasarkan pada 2012. Mobil ini sempat mejeng di ajang IIMS 2010 dan disebut-sebut sebagai "pembunuh Avanza" yang menguasai penjualan diFIndonesia.

Konsep R3 merupakan model pertama ciptaan MSI yang dijadikan produk global (termasuk Indonesia). Dengan R3, Suzuki juga membidik pasar Australia yang memiliki tingkat keamanan lebih tinggi dan emisi gas buang berstandar euro4. Untuk Negeri Kanguru, airbagas dan electronic stability control akan menjadi perlengkapan standar, selain kendaraan menggunakan bahan baja.

"Standar keamanan Australia sangat tinggi, mobil di sana menggunakan setir kanan. Desain dasar (R3) harus terlebih dahulu memenuhi standar Australia, baru India. Rancang bangun untuk pasar global akan menambah biaya produksi dari model yang dipasarkan di India," ujar General Manager Global Marketing Maruti Suzuki Rajesh Singh, seperti dilansir autoevolution (3/1/2011).

Suzuki akan membekali dua mesin berbeda, yakni bensin 1,2 liter atau 1,3 turbo-diesel dengan sistem penggerak roda depan. Khusus di India, R3 ditawarkan hanya dalam transmisi manual, sedangkan untuk versi global dipastikan ada versi otomatis.
